An annual scholarship for Grade 10–12 learners who participate in TGN Education Mathematics Masterclasses. Every term you are scored out of 100 on academic performance, academic growth and Masterclass participation.
Submit my term detailsGrade 12 learners are ranked on their own. A matriculant never competes against a Grade 10 or 11 learner, and never appears on the Purple Scholar Top 20 — matrics are ranked solely on the Purple Grade 12 Top 10.
The winning Grade 12 Purple STEM Scholar is supported into higher education: an Undergraduate Resource Package (study resources, devices and academic materials for first year) together with payment of their university registration fee.
Your overall academic average × 0.40. A minimum overall average of 65% is required.
Improvement on your previous average, scored on a banded scale from +15 points or more (25) down to 0.
Qualifying Masterclasses attended ÷ available × 35. At least 3 Masterclasses per term are required.
Where learners finish on the same total, Mathematics decides: Mathematics mark first, then Mathematics growth, then participation, then overall average. Term 4 ties are resolved and recorded in the annual report.
This is not an application — every Masterclass participant is already in the running. Simply fill in your details for the term so TGN can rank you. An administrator verifies, corrects or removes every entry before it counts, so please be accurate.
