A TGN Education Mathematics Masterclass is a focused, teacher-led academic intervention designed to help learners achieve mastery in a specific Mathematics topic through an intensive three-hour learning experience.
Unlike traditional tutoring, extra lessons or broad revision workshops, each Masterclass concentrates on one carefully selected curriculum topic — allowing learners to develop deeper conceptual understanding, strengthen problem-solving skills, improve examination readiness, and build confidence applying Mathematical concepts independently.
Each Masterclass is facilitated by a selected Provincial Masterclass Facilitator — an exceptional Mathematics educator chosen in partnership with the Provincial Department of Education to identify the strongest cohort of teachers for their subject expertise, instructional excellence, and ability to inspire learner achievement. Supported by the TGN Education Academic Team, every session includes professionally developed presentations, learner resources, worksheets, activities, assessment materials, and examination preparation strategies aligned with curriculum requirements.

Beyond the Masterclass: The Purple STEM Scholarship
TGN Education Masterclasses are designed to create opportunities that extend beyond a single learning experience.
Through the Purple STEM Scholarship by TGN Education Masterclasses, Grade 10–12 learners who participate in Masterclasses can be recognised for consistent academic excellence, growth, commitment and engagement throughout the academic year.
Participating learners are automatically considered for the Purple Scholar Top 20 Leaderboard, which is reviewed each term, throughout the year based on academic performance, Masterclass participation, growth, engagement and school feedback.
At the end of the academic year, one learner is selected as the Purple STEM Scholar, receiving an educational scholarship package determined by TGN Education based on available funding and the learner's needs.
This creates a year-long pathway in which every Masterclass provides another opportunity for learners to learn, improve, demonstrate excellence and progress towards greater educational opportunity.

Academic Design & Preparation
The Facilitator collaborates with the TGN Academic Team to identify the topic, learning outcomes, and academic focus areas. Resources, presentations, worksheets, activities and assessment materials are developed in advance.
A complete mastery-focused experience is prepared before learners enter the venue.
Learning Environment & Readiness
TGN Education and the host school ensure that learner materials, technology, venue requirements and logistical arrangements are all in place. The Facilitator reviews the session structure and learning objectives.
A professional environment is established to maximise participation, focus and academic success.
The Three-Hour Experience
A structured learning journey from understanding to application: Introduction & Outcomes (15 min) · Mathematics Deep Dive (45 min) · Collaborative Application (60 min) · Concept Breakdown & Feedback (30 min) · Reflection & Exam Readiness (30 min).

Evaluation & Continuous Improvement
TGN Education reviews learner engagement, attendance, participant feedback and academic outcomes. Facilitators participate in a structured debrief. Session recordings and insights may be shared with the host school.

Recognising Consistent Excellence, Commitment and Academic Growth
An annual scholarship initiative for Grade 10–12 learners who participate in TGN Education Masterclasses throughout the academic year.
1. Programme Overview
The Purple STEM Scholarship by TGN Education Masterclasses is an annual scholarship initiative designed to recognise and reward one exceptional learner who demonstrates consistent academic excellence, commitment and growth through their participation in TGN Education Masterclasses. The programme is open to Grade 10, Grade 11 and Grade 12 learners.
2. Candidate Pool
All Grade 10–12 learners who participate in a TGN Education Masterclass are automatically entered into the Purple STEM Scholarship candidate pool. There is no separate application process. The pool grows as learners from additional schools participate.
3. Purple Scholar Top 20 Leaderboard
A Purple Scholar Top 20 Leaderboard is maintained throughout the academic year across Grade 10, Grade 11, Grade 12 and all participating schools. The Top 20 is dynamic — learners may enter or leave based on performance.
4. Eligibility Requirements
To remain eligible, a learner must participate in TGN Education Masterclasses, attend a minimum of three Masterclasses per term, maintain an overall school academic average of at least 65%, demonstrate consistent academic growth, and maintain good school attendance and conduct.
5. Termly Performance Review
At the end of each term, TGN Education reviews participation, assessment results, school academic average, growth, attendance, engagement, facilitator feedback and school feedback. Results update the Top 20 Leaderboard.
6. Movement Within the Top 20
The Top 20 remains competitive. Learners demonstrating stronger overall performance may move into the Top 20, while learners who no longer meet the required standards may lose their position.
7. Annual Selection of the Purple Scholar
At year-end, the final Top 20 undergo a comprehensive review. The final Purple Scholar is selected based on consistent excellence, academic growth, participation, commitment, school feedback and facilitator feedback.
8. The Purple STEM Scholarship Award
The award provides meaningful educational support for the following academic year, which may include school fees, textbooks, stationery, uniform, educational technology, continued access to Masterclasses, mentorship and other approved educational expenses.
9. Purpose and Impact
The scholarship creates a year-long pathway of opportunity. It encourages consistent participation, academic focus, performance improvement, meaningful engagement and positive competition — reinforcing that consistent excellence creates opportunity.
10. Guiding Principle
The Purple STEM Scholarship is not awarded simply for being the best learner on one day. It is awarded to the learner who demonstrates sustained excellence, growth, commitment and participation throughout the academic year.
